Neurontin-

Question:

This is my first post to this list. I was prescribed Neurontin last week for chronic pain in my upper back (neuropathy from scarring from a previous surgery, he thinks).  I’ve had 3 cervical fusions and 2 surgeries in the last 6 years.  The M.D. has me slowly working my way up to the dosage he wants me at in 3 weeks.  So far, the Neurontin doesn’t seem to be helping much.  Have any of you had any experience with this drug? How did it work for you? Thanks…

I also have been taking Neurontin for a few months for scarring from a previous back surgery.  It has helped with my sciatica pain alot.  I started at 100mgx3 and now take 300mgx3.  It took a couple of weeks for me to notice any results. –RC

I took it for chronic nerve pain in my neck and arm and it did work to bring the feeling back in my finger but I also had a severe reaction to this drug….The reaction I had is not common, I think Neurontin works for some and others it is useless. Neurontin worked for me at 300mg’s when I went up to 400 mgs I got the reaction.  I was on the lowest doesage I think there is and I did get some relief.  Now I’m on Pamelor for the nerve pain and I get the same relief =)  GOOD LUCK!!!! I haven’t had experience with Neurontin; but have with other related drugs.  There often isn’t much help until you get up to the therapeutic dose; then things get better.  Building up gradually is the standard of care, though; so, hang in there.  Good luck. Chris Owens

taxi; I too am on neurontin.  I hate drugs and don’t have much faith in them. that being said I believe the neurontin is helping. at the pain clinic they told me that when we get to the right dose it will take care of alot of the sharp nerve pain. well it’s actually done that. sometimes when I turn the right way I would get a sharp stabbing pain. well the pain is still there but alot duller. my dose is 3200mg/day   hope it helps for you.   Jim Koch – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – This is my first post to this list.
