Question:

Does anyone know what this is?(common variable immune…something??) This is what the dr thinks my son has now..i HAVE read SOME on it..but i was wondering if anyone had any first hand with it. Like what is the prognosis? His doctor has him on 750 mg of cipro now…he was on biaxin but he still has an infection after 21 days of it. All the bloodwork was done friday to test for immune dieases but the dr said she is 90% sure SOMETHING is going to show up. My son is always in the room and he is 12,so i hate to ask "hey doc…does this mean hes going to die or what?" I know that soon i will need to sit down with just her and me but i know in the meantime…i have ya’ll If anyone knows anything about this disease i would really appreciate some input…and maybe just to know that someon else knows my pain:( thanks to everyone….LYNN

I have CVID….I am well over 40 and was diagnosed 3 years ago….there is a group out of Maryland that can give you good information and its name is IDF (immune deficiency foundation)….sorry do not have a web site but you can do a search my symptoms were that I was always ill with sinusitis,bowel infections,pneumonia etc.  I hope that you are relying on an immunologist for this diagnosis, if not I suggest that you contact National Jewish in Denver… I currently get an IV monthly of Human Immuneglobulin…..and immediately get on antibiotics when the least symptom of infection hits if you would prefer to discuss this off the NG just email me at tish

I would make an appointment to sit down with your sons doctor, right away, and talk to her. This will let you know what you are dealing with and hopefully relieve your mind. In the meantime have you done a search on the internet for CVID?
