Orange Juice?
Question:
Moses here: Buy yourself a folic acid supplement. It is the active agent that prevent high homocysteine levels in the blood stream…..which is directly related to heart/vascular disease. And or eat your greens. Orange juice, grapefruit juice, tomato juice have very bad reps amongst reflux sufferers. And by the way, if you are suppressing your acid production with PPI’s drugs your B-12 absorption my well not be adequate. I’d also take a generous B-12 supplement of say 500 mcgs or greater. Both supplements a rather inexpensive. Keep taking the PPI drug…. it is very effective if the dose is large enough. Just My NON-professional opinion Moses Clarke PS Typos typos…..a bird species that only eats citrus sparingly…not by the cup, th quart or the gallon. * Sent from RemarQ http://www.remarq.com The Internet’s Discussion Network * The fastest and easiest way to search and participate in Usenet – Free!

Hello, I have heard somewhere that orange juice is another "no no" for persons who suffer from chronic heartburn and GERD. However, with that latest scientific study that came out touting its benefits in preventing strokes and cancer, I thought I would give it a try. I have been drinking about a glass or two of Minute Maid a day with no ill effects thus far. Perhaps, I can attribute that to my daily regimen of Prilosec. In any event, drinking orange juice can’t be as bad for me as my former habit of drinking about six diet Cokes a day (I am now down to one or two). Dennis
I take Prevacid and I have been drinking orange juice, eating oranges and apples without any problems. I have found that coffee and spicy foods are triggers. Prior to taking Prevacid, I was taking Ranitidine and I sometimes found that coffee aggravated my heartburn. In many cases it was difficult identifying one or two specific triggers. When I drink coffee, I ask for decaf, and usually have one cup. I don’t drink coffee everyday. I agree that orange juice is preferable to six Diet Cokes. Coke has caffeine, a no-no for heartburn sufferers. You have to determine what your triggers are and avoid them. Be careful not to eat a large meal prior to bedtime, and eat smaller meals throughout the day. I am sure that your doctor has told you this. I have GERD and IBS and both my family doctor and gastroenterologist told me that I have to determine what bothers me and avoid that. If orange juice is not bothering you, I do not see the need to avoid it. I agree that you are probably able to do this because of Prilosec. Hope that this helps. Bill Before you buy.

well the place that i learned all that stuff that you said was in Biology class last year. so i assume they do go over that stuff if you major in it. — zoe – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – The fact that you stopped drinking milk will NOT cause you to have to increase your calcium intake. I realize that milk is a small source of calcium. I have extreme asthma problems in the winter, and I stopped drinking milk because I didn’t need any extra mucous. Many products are now loaded with calcium to take the place of dairy products. For instance, the orange juice I drink has the calcium supplement CalBoost, which offers much more calcium than milk. I majored in biology, so I know what is in milk. More than 50% is fat, and that’s the main source of energy for nursing mammals. Minerals are in milk, yet they sure don’t come in great quantities. You majored in biology? That definately means that you know `whats’ in milk. Thats absurd! This week, class, we are going to be studying milk! Get real. You want to know whats IN milk? Go to http://www.notmilk.com for the truth. Listen to the RealAudio interview with Robert Cohen. Then you will know whats IN milk. Until then, dont proclaim that your the milk guru.

thats just super, oj is like my all time fav food or drink whatever, i have at least 2-3 glasses daily cuz i drink the added calcium kind since i don’t drink milk. ughh i really don’t wanna give this up!!!! but i guess i’ll try for a week and see what happens thanks for the info! =) =( — Orange juice, especially Minute Maid Orange Tangeringe with CalBoost, is one of my favorite drinks. I can tell you that orange juice has absolutely no effect on my acne at all-not better, nor worse. However, after I stopped drinking a lot of milk, I noticed minimal improvements in my skin.
The fact that you stopped drinking milk will NOT cause you to have to increase your calcium intake. You have believed what millions of others have been told by the dairy council, FDA, etc, that milk is an important source of calcium. TOTAL B.S. in the worst way. Where do the cows get their calcium? They dont drink the shit. They eat grass. Even an extremely poor diet consisting of fast food and shit will give you enough calcium. IN fact, the protein in milk, in order to be broken down, will actually scavenge calcium from your bones. Yes, thats right, a net loss of calcium when you drink milk. The milk drinking nations of the world have the highest incidence of bone disease. Youve been lied to by the government and the dairy council. Makes perfect sense, no? They want you to buy more of it. For the truth go to http://www.notmilk.com
